Def Jam has named new CEO

Paul Rosenberg, Co-Founder and President of Shady Records, who is also CEO of Goliath Artist Management and Eminem’s manager, was just named as Def Jam’s new CEO, according to an announcement they made Thursday morning.

Originally from Detroit, Paul Rosenberg and Eminem have had quite a long history together. The pair have had both a close personal and professional relationship. As Co-Founder and President of Shady Records, as well as Eminem’s manager and executive producer on projects such as 8 Mile, the two can’t seem to get enough of each other. Or, maybe you just shouldn’t change a winning formula.

Rosenberg transitions into his new position officially on January 1, 2018, when the current CEO, Steve Bartels, will step down after a four-year run. When he does, Rosenberg, who is also an attorney, will continue to consult on legal matters and oversee Eminem’s career, while running Shady Records and now, Def Jam Records. He’s going to be quite a busy man, but the consensus seems to be very confident in his ability to not only handle it all, but to continue to elevate both companies and productively develop the artists he works with. One thing is for certain, the man has a mean grind and a passion for real artistry.
