Tamar Braxton recently told Entertainment Tonight in an exclusive interview that she is retiring from music after her new album to “protect her marriage”.
The talented singer/songwriter, actress and television personality claims that her new album, Bluebird Of Happiness, will be her last so that she can focus on her marriage to music executive Vincent Herbert and their 4 year old son, Logan. Tamar and her husband work very closely together, so between work, home and being best friends, she told ET that there are “a lot of things to discuss and argue about”. She goes on to say that music is “just her job” and her home is her sanctuary, where everything should be safe and stress-free for her family.
Tamar explains that the songs on Bluebird Of Happiness were written from referencing the last year or so of pages in the singer’s personal diary. She says it’s kind of like a soundtrack to what was going on in her life at the time. “It’s about being completely transparent, stripping down and being real and unapologetic”. The album’s singles, “My Man” and “Blind,” definitely show the very raw emotions that she had been experiencing. Even though Tamar was nervous to reveal such an in-depth, intimate look into the turbulence in her life and marriage, she says that her and her husband are both “ok with it” and he calls it “her best work yet”. The 11-track album was produced by Tamar, husband Vince Herbert and super-producer, Rodney Jerkins. Her upcoming events include promotion for the album and also touring with long-time friend and singer, Tameka “Tiny” Harris of Xscape, for the Great Xscape Reunion Tour.
Although Bluebird Of Happiness is going to be her last album, Tamar plans to continue writing music for other artists and even signed a deal last year with Steve Harvey’s production company, East 112th Street Productions, to host her own talk show in the near future. With Tamar’s larger-than-life personality, I’m sure she’ll be giving Wendy Williams a run for her money!
